Thanks to those who have pointed out that some of my pictures show me carrying William in a facing our position. The photos were taken some time ago, before facing out was regarded as too frightening for very small babes. I put them up because they suited the theme and I really like them.

The Winter is a great time for you and your baby to get out and about even in the snow. Having the right gear is essential here is a quick check list of the main items:
Oversized coat or carrier cover depending on carrying position. Carrier covers can be expensive, an oversized coat can be just as good.
Good grips on shoes/boots
Carrying a child changes your centre of gravity. This change is hardly noticeable in normal conditions, however when in icy or snow conditions we need to be extra careful. Carrying your child in the right position for you is essential. If you carry your child on the front facing in, this is a good position to maximise stability and minimise the effect on your centre of gravity,m however, your view may be impaired making it more difficult to negotiate icy steps and paths. Carrying your child on your back will effect your centre of gravity more, but you will be able to see more clearly and avoid trouble spots.

Babywearing is hugely enjoyable and beneficial when done in a safe manner. I thought you might like to have the general guidance issued by the Baby Carrier Manufacturers and Retails Association:

Probably the most eagerly awaited baby carrier launch of the past six months, the new Boba 3G is an update to the much loved 2G. The launch is part of a major rebranding program which sees the Sleepy Wrap name also incorporated into the Boba marque.
New updated packaging and a price increase indicates that Boba is seeking to position the 3G next to Beco and Ergo in the premium baby carrier market.
So, how different is the 3G to its predecessor? Usually, product development involves small carefully choreographed steps over time. However, in the case of the 3G, Boba have included over 12 major updates! Here are some of the most important:
Insert free infant conversion
Longer front panel for greater comfort and support
More adjustability for greater comfort whilst carrying larger children or breast feeding
Multiple pockets for on-the-go storage
With a price below that of its main competitors, the new Boba 3G
has raised the bar in terms of premium baby carriers.
If you are thinking about buying a baby carrier, take a look
at this carrier and compare it to others in the market,
we think you will be hard pressed to find a better carrier for the money.

• Adjustable sleeping hood, adjusting in length to fit growing babies
